Sauna

Sauna???????

What is the point of going in a sauna after you work out? It seems like you are just losing water weight and dehydrating yourself. The friends I was with acted like it was beneficial.

  1. I think it's just mental. You go in there and start sweating so you think you are losing weight.

  3. My herbal physician told me that people have two types of fluid inside the body. The good one is the one you need to live, the water you drink everyday. The bad one is the sweat that you get when you exercise. Sweat is supposedly heat, blah blah (I forget, but I remember that sweat is bad and that it should be released). So to answer your question, sweating a lot will never dehydrate someone as long as he/she drinks water to get rid of thirst. As for sauna, not only does it let the bad fluid (sweat) out of the body, it also increases metabolism and pulse rates, your blood vessels become much more flexible, and your extremities benefit from increased circulation. Sauna is good, unless you can't handle the heat!
  4. It's not for weight loss, it's to relax and release toxins through sweat.
  5. "The Answer" basically answered your question and all that he said was correct. The sauna is very beneficial because it makes you sweat, and sweat is toxins leaving your body. It is all the bad things and fluids (toxins) that you accumulated that leave your body when you are sweating. That's why it is soo beneficial. It makes your blood flow better (and the rest was explained by "The Answer"). It does make you lose weight, although that is not it's main goal. It's main goal is to release toxins and to feel good. You are definately not losing water weight nor dehydrating yourself. Definately not.
  6. Well sauna is as said already highly beneficial to your health. My friends and I even go to sauna to temporary lose weight to match our weight class in vale tudo. Of course it's clever thing to do to drink water in order to avoid feeling too bad . The only thing that can be dangerous is not knowing when to get out of sauna.
