Sauna

What the difference between using a hot tub or sauna?

I've heard that it's not safe for a pregnant women to use a sauna but a hot tub might help soothe her. What would be the difference if you are still dealing with excessive heat?

  1. Hot tubs are a no no too. You are NOT supposed to be in hot water.
  2. As far as I'm concerned hot tubs are also a no-no during pregnancy, except of course if you use warm (not hot) water and no bubbles or perfumes. What you are trying to prevent in both cases is over-heating.
  3. I don't think its safe.
  4. NO Hot tubs and NO saunas. The problem is you will overheat, if you sit in a tub or sauna over 101 degrees you will raise your own blood pressure, causing restricted blood flow to the baby and if you do this too many times in early pregnancy, you can cause birth defects.
