  1. 40 a day works for me
  2. I heard that chewing gum might help...I am not sure...worth a try though
  3. Steam rooms and saunas will probably make it worse as it is difficult to breathe in those environments to begin with - although WARM air WILL relax the bronchioles in your lungs and make respiration somewhat easier.
  4. Try this site: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Herbal_Remedies/
  5. a warm shower, so 5-10 steam won't hurt will relax you and this in turn helps you to breath better smoking needs to go though bad news for the asthma and where's your med's as in a inhaler?
  6. Mine as well it seems to me it`s when the seasons change it`s a bit colder more people using there cars, there is a lot of colds and bugs going around Only thing you can do is make shore your inhalers are full and the repeat prescription is waiting for you at your doctors
  7. since I stopped smoking 30 a day, its been worse than ever.! An ioniser is good, not too dear, you can get them from Argos.
  8. Saline Wash to the nose, then blow is more powerful. Stay away from triggers.. Use you inhalers as prescribe by your Doctor
  9. Only a little it's Broncho-dialators that work the best.
  10. No they don't. Such management was often advised 20 years age, but has been shown to be useless. You don't give your age, nor your current asthma medication, so further advice will need to come from your GP.
  11. Sophie - if your asthma is really bad at the moment it means that your asthma medication is not controlling it and may have to be adjusted. Most asthma sufferers get times when it gets worse - but this is something too important to be wasting time asking on YA. Go see your GP or the Asthma Nurse Specialist. Don't wait until you have a severe attack and end up in A&E
  12. This may help you: There are two popular Natural asthma treatments, one is from the Middle East and has been a primary treatment for asthma and allergies. A traditional extract blend taken with honey includes black cumin, chamomile, cinnamon, cloves, rosemary, sage, spearmint, thyme and other herbs. Natural asthma treatments have herbs that contain antioxidants, and Black cumin seed, rosemary and thyme are known to inhibit the contractions of tracheal smooth muscle that is stimulated by histamine and acetylcholine. In Asia one natural asthma cure is a blend known as Saiboku-To is used clinically for asthma treatment and contains 10 herbs like ginger, Korean ginseng, magnolia, Baikal and licorice. In Japan , 40 asthma patients were treated with Saiboku-To for six to 24 months, and all were able to greatly reduce their steroidal asthma medications.20 Saiboku-To have also been shown to inhibit lipoxygenase. When you're looking for Natural asthma treatments on the Internet, make sure you're not allergic to any of the natural ingredients themselves, which would defeat the purpose. Always take small doses and one at a time than recommended if you've never taken something before to make sure your body will not have an adverse affect from anything. Just because something is natural does not mean it can't be dangerous to you
  13. Different people find that different things trigger their asthma. I know that I suffer worst when there's a lot of pollen around, or if I've had a chest infection it sparks off asthmatic symptoms too. You may have an allergy to something that's common at this time of year. The damp, cold evenings may be affecting you. The steam rooms, etc will treat the symptoms, but not the cause.
