Sauna

Is it healthy to stay in a sauna for 30 minutes if you feel comfortable?

I have my own sauna, its180 degrees F. I stay in it for up to 30 minutes at a time because I've developed a tolerance for it. I like it because it keeps my skin really good looking.

  1. Im not sure, i would research it though to be safe
  2. That's a pretty long time. 15 min is better. I wouldn't be able to breathe after 30 min . You're breathing steam. Your body needs more oxygen than that.
  3. 30 minutes in the sauna doesn't do anything more for your skin than 15 minutes does, and yes, spending 1/2 hour in 180 steamy degrees is highly dangerous, you are literally cooking your organs.
  4. Try not to stay in as long - not longer than 20 minutes. And make sure to drink lots of fluids, to prevent dehydration.
  5. Yeah, we have one in our house and I've stayed in there for over half an hour, it does more good to you than harm, you just have to be careful if your by yourself as you could pass out and .... then it wouldn't be pretty
  6. Better than staying in for one long session is to break that up into two shorter sessions. In between, take an ice-cold shower to cool down. The contrast between hot and cold will really get your heart pumping, and give your skin an even better workout. If you do want to stay in for 30 minutes, it should be okay. Few people overheat in a sauna. Just make sure you stay hydrated and be really careful when getting up. Fainting is a leading cause of sauna fatalities.
